Hotel and Conference Center
The main program, exhibits, and marketplace at TypeCon2004 will be located at the Hotel Nikko San Francisco, a beautiful Asian-inspired facility just two blocks off Union Square. Amenities include high-speed internet access, 2-line phones, and faxes in rooms; health club, indoor pool, business center, highly-rated restaurant Anzu, and much more. The Nikko is the ideal place to stay during TypeCon!

Although our large block of deluxe rooms at a special deep discount of $139 per night has been filled, the Hotel Nikko is still offering excellent rates to TypeCon attendees while rooms are still available. Book your room at the Nikko now by calling the reservations line at 1-415-394-1111. Mention discount code TYPECON to receive the best possible rate.

Hotel Nikko San Francisco
222 Mason Street
San Francisco, CA 94102
Phone: 1-415-394-1111

IMPORTANT NOTICE: You may encounter a slightly lower room rate at the Nikko on Expedia, Orbitz, etc. This lower rate on the discount sites is for the Petite Queen rooms. These are NOT to be compared with the deluxe rooms available to TypeCon attendees. Petite Queen rooms were designed for flight crew (the Nikko is owned by Japan Airlines), and they are tiny and not suited for more than one person. We have heard from people who have stayed in both types of rooms that the extra few $$$ per night will be well worth it in comfort.

Workshops
Optional workshops will be held at facilities of TypeCon2004 partners, the San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB) and the California College of the Arts (CCA). SFCB and CCA are conveniently located down the street from each other in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, making it easy to move between workshops in the two locations.

Local Travel
The Bay Area has an excellent mass transit system, and cabs are plentiful. Information on getting around the city will be available on the site in June. For now, check out the Bay Area travel guide for info on BART, MUNI, Amtrak, the ferries, and more Bay Area transit agencies.

Airline Travel
The Bay Area is serviced by several airports, affording travelers competitive ticket pricing on most major airlines.

San Francisco International Airport (airport code SFO) is served by many domestic and international carriers, including Air Canada, Air France, Alaska, America West, American, British Airways, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Northwest, United, US Airways, and Virgin Atlantic.

Oakland International Airport (airport code OAK) is another excellent option for flying into the Bay Area. OAK is served by several major carriers, including Air Canada, Air France, Alaska, America West, American, Continental, Delta, Mexicana, and United. Low cost carriers Jet Blue and Southwest fly into Oakland, often offering flexible bargain fares.

Information regarding ground transportation to and from the airports will be available soon. In the meantime, the airport websites offer ground transit info, maps, and lots of other details for visitors to the Bay Area.
